For the good of the people, overturn the Hughes Amendment in the Firearm Owners Protection Act of 1986.

Created by J.P. on November 13, 2012

The Hughes Amendment is the part of the Firearm Owners Protection Act that has stopped citizens from owning machine guns registered beyond the date of May 19, 1986. Not only does it limit our second amendment rights, but it also leaves us open to repression without having the proper tools of defense. I believe that this amendment should be took out for that reason. The government will also benefit from it too if it shall be removed. When a firearm is registered a $200 tax must be paid. In these hard times the government can use the money. Not only is it good in that way but it is safe. Not a single one of these firearms made before 1986 were ever used in a crime, therefore, only law abiding citizens have or will own them. Please, repeal the amendment.
