Russia has passed and instituted some of the most anti-gay legislation in the world. Not only will these laws harm Russian citizens, but they could even be applied to foreign visitors, athletes and staff attending the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia (http://huff.to/15u3ptk). The US Government should ask the American Olympic Committee to boycott these games, just like the US boycotted the 1980 games that were held in Moscow to protest the Russian invasion of Afghanistan. The US Government should also ask all countries that support equal rights for their LGBT citizens to boycott the games. The time has long past for the US and other countries that stand for fairness to support countries like Russia that do not.
