Medicare is now expensive partly because the government is not allowed to negotiate the price of drugs with the pharmaceutical industry. Large quantities of drugs are purchased and the high prices paid do not reflect this quantity purchase, which should be cheaper. Amend the medicare laws to change this and make needed care available at a more reasonable cost.
