On January 16, 2013, Deadspin reported that Notre Dame football player Manti Te’o was a victim/participant in a hoax involving a fake girlfriend. This incident has revealed a significant problem in our country, the need for a federal agency that regulates fake significant others on social media. This agency will be responsible for helping American citizens create and maintain these relationships over social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, Pintrest, Instagram, etc. The agency will also be in charge of preventing what happend to Mr. Te'o to any other citizen.
