We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Grant all non-essential employees a day off from work on Thanksgiving Day

Created by E.S. on May 03, 2016

Thanksgiving is a the only secular American holiday centered around being grateful for one's blessings and spending time with one's family. Despite its message, many hard-working Americans work year after year on Thanksgiving. Many employers do not even allow their employees to even request the day off, essentially forcing them to work on Thanksgiving or lose their jobs. Those who are considered essential employees such as police, fire and healthcare can explain to their children that their job involves helping others, while those in non-essential jobs such as retail can give no reason other than they must pay the family's bills.

We ask the White House to take action and ensure that all non-essential employees are granted Thanksgiving Day off to spend with their families and children.
