grant amnesty to Meriam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag, also known by the Muslim name Adraf Al-Hadi Mohammed Abdullah, of Sudan.

This young mother of a child aged two and in the eighth month of her second pregnancy, has been sentenced to 100 lashes and death. She was raised by a Muslim father and a Christian mother, had never professed a Muslim faith but professed a Christian faith, and married a Christian man. A Muslim court has deemed her guilty of apostasy because she was not a Muslim, despite her claim that she had never professed a Muslim faith. This court has also declared her guilty of adultery, as they would not recognize the marriage as valid between a Muslim and a Christian. This is an appalling violation of the basic human rights to profess any faith and to marry anyone. The United States must support women's rights in Sudan, and must begin by granting her and her children amnesty.
