For 7 years, Amy Poehler, as Leslie Knope on the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, created an enduring legacy as a dedicated public servant, first as Deputy Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation in Pawnee, IN, to Midwest Regional Director of the National Park Service.
The Parks Finale brought national attention to the Park Service and it's mission, and Amy herself is a supporter of equal opportunities for women, as seen via her Smart Girls website.
Amy (and her character Leslie) should be recognized for her efforts by being granted honorary superintendent status within the National Park Service.
