On December 6th, 2011, President Obama signed a presidential memorandum entitled "International Initiatives to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Persons."
In that memorandum, he said that he is "deeply concerned by the violence and discrimination targeting LGBT persons around the world."
He said that no country should deny people human rights because of who they love.
In section 2, he committed to improving protection for LGBT asylum seekers.
