The supreme court of El Salvador has ruled that a woman, known only as Beatriz, must give birth to her fetus. The issue is that her fetus long ago died - it developed without a brain, so after birth it will either be stillborn or simply suffer for a few hours before succumbing.
Further complicating this is the fact that she has lupus and giving birth will likely kill her. El Salvador's strict laws prevent her from having the medical procedure necessary to prevent her death.
Her baby is sadly already gone, so I petition the US government to do what it can to offer asylum to this woman so that she may come here to have the procedure she needs, and that we may prevent more needless death.
