Grant Clemency to Richard LaFuente.

Created by J.H. on September 18, 2013

Richard LaFuente should be granted clemency and released from federal prison. Sufficient evidence exists that he did not commit the murder he is accused of and he refuses to express remorse or admit guilt for a crime he did not commit. The President has the Constitutional authority to commute LaFuente's sentence and Mr. LaFuente's second petition for clemency was submitted August 6, 2013.

Michael Hall has written a series of articles on Mr. LaFuente for Texas Monthly and LaFuente's story is as inspiring as it is tragic (see here: http://texasmonthly.com/story/pardon-me-mr-president & here: http://www.texasmonthly.com/story/free-richard-lafuente).

Here is an instance when policy, mercy and justice all point to the same conclusion: freedom for Mr. LaFuente.
