Recently India's Minister of the Environment and Forests outlawed the captivity of dolphins and granted the species "non-human personhood". This is fitting as many of us know that dolphins have a unique intelligence and are self-aware. They use language to communicate and respond to their own unique names in the wild. How can we cage such beautiful, brilliant creatures in order to simply satisfy our endless lust for entertainment? Dolphins should not be a business, nor should any such spectacular animal. I ask the government coincide with India's amazing leap in animal rights and free these magnificent mammals from their prisons across the county. Let all dolphins swim free, for us to live along side and admire in their own environment.
