It makes perfect sense that the nation's first black president should be the one to FINALLY issue a pardon to the nation's first heavyweight boxing champion, Jack Johnson. Jack Johnson was convicted by an all-white jury for violating a Jim Crow-era law that made it illegal to transport white women across state lines for "immoral purposes." He was sentenced to a year in prison. His family is once again requesting a presidential pardon to commemorate Jack Johnson's 135th birthday. Please sign this petition so that Mr. Obama will address this issue as he promised to do. Mr. President – this is an easy one! Just a stroke of your pen, and a few minutes of your time will correct a centuries old injustice. Please pardon Jack Johnson.
