Without statehood, a full 3 million people lack any representation in the federal government. That means 3 million people are being repressed right now. 3 million American citizens without the most fundamental right in our nation: The right to vote. This is simply unacceptable, and so the federal government has an obligation to grant said rights to these people. Gone are the days of colonialism and invasion. We must recognise that if a territory is under the control of our nation, we must give equal rights the inhabitants of that area. End this repression, and grant Puerto Rico statehood!
