Hank The Cat finished in third place in the Virginia Senate race. This is telling as to our nation. One, there is a significant number of Americans who are unsatisfied with the status quo. Two, the animals who share our lives are increasingly important to us-- we choose them, and they, in turn, know us better than other humans. To at least publicly acknowledge both of these truths of American society would be beneficial following such an acrimonious period of politics. If we can't all unite behind the love of warm, fuzzy animals, what can We The People unite behind?
