Meriam Ibrahim, a Christian woman in Sudan who is married to a US citizen, has been sentenced to 100 lashes and then the death penalty for the alleged "crimes" of infidelity and apostasy.
Considering that her husband is an American citizen and that Meriam applied for a US visa three years ago, we call upon President Obama to grant immediate US citizenship to Meriam and her two young children, who have been imprisoned with her.
We then call upon the President to instruct our ambassador to Sudan to demand to visit Meriam in prison and to demand that the Sudanese release her immediately into the ambassador's protection.
