This is a simple request-that the LGBT people of America be recognized as equal citizens and extended the same rights and protections as heterosexual citizens.
This needs to be a federal law because reforming these rights state by state is not working. Equality will not be granted by popular vote. LGBT citizens are the only minority group in the United States who are not granted full rights under federal law. This would not be accepted if we were an ethnic minority and it is not acceptable now.
Mr. President, "separate but equal" did not work before and it's not working now. Please make LGBT Americans equal citizens.
