The Lumbee Indians are one of a number of tribes in the United States that are not recognized as being a Native American tribe by the Federal Government, thereby denying them aid present to recognized tribes within the country. Recognition would help this tribe and their community to rise out from poverty, create better facilities/opportunities for health and education, and give the people the respect they deserve.
