In August of 2010, Marissa Alexander fired warning shots at her abusive husband. She was tried and sentenced for 20 years in jail for protecting herself, and she had a restraining order against him.
It's true she could have called the police, but the "Stand Your Ground" policy in Florida deems she should not have been found guilty.
The State of Florida should revoke the "Stand Your Ground" policy as well, as it is being used by the wrong people. Zimmerman, of the Trayvon Martin case, pleaded his right to "Stand Your Ground" and was found innocent, and he SHOT AND KILLED Trayvon.
Marissa Alexander deserves a re-trial
