No woman should be sentenced to 20 years in prison, with no possibility of parole, for simply firing a warning shot in defense of her own safety. Ms. Alexander was in her own home. Ms. Alexander had a restraining order in place. Ms. Alexander was in immenant danger of attack. Ms. Alexander was convicted after the jury deliberated after only 12 minutes. Ms. Alexander was warned by the judge to not discuss the details of her case, the night before her trial, with her own lawyer!
Compassion and equal justice under the "stand your ground" laws currently in place in the State of Florida demand that this conviction be overturned.
