Grant Michael McLeod pardon from an unlawful criminal conviction obtained by the Circuit Court of Norfolk, Virginia.

In March of 2003, Michael McLeod shot and killed a neighbor's dog, in the state of Virginia. To this day shooting any companion animal is a misdemeanor in the State of Virginia. Mr. McLeod was coerced into pleading guilty to a felony statute which prohibits the death of a dog or cat resulting directly from acts such as torture, beating, maiming and mutilation. The court never conducted the required Rule 11 plea colloquy and, at sentencing, the court did not have any evidence that Mr. McLeod's Guilty plea was knowingly and voluntarily entered. A state's government does not have the right to break the law simply because a taxpayer does. The taxpaying public payed well in excess of $250,000 to house Mr. McLeod in prison for 5 years, for what amounts to a $500.00 misdemeanor property crime!
