WHEREAS, the United States Constitution guarantees the freedom to practice one's own religion,
WHEREAS, the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights, ratified by the United States on 10 December 1948 guarantees the same,
WHEREAS, Uwe and Hannelore Romeike face prosecution in the Federal Republic of Germany for homeschooling their children, as is legal in the United States,
WHEREAS, therefore said individuals qualify for refugee status under 8 USC 1101 (42)(a),
WHEREAS, the Department of Homeland Security estimates as of 2010, over 10 million individuals illegally reside in the United States, many of whom do not qualify for refugee status, and are not being deported.
We request that Uwe and Hannelore Romeike be immediately granted permanent asylum in the United States, pursuant to 8 USC § 1158
