Recent legislation in foreign countries have made being gay illegal. As a result of these laws, LGBT people are subject to arrests, torture, and murder for being gay. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated on December 2nd, 2011 before the United Nations that the current administration was going to help people in other nations "combat the criminalization of LGBT status and conduct, to enhance efforts to protect vulnerable LGBT refugees and asylum seekers, to ensure that our foreign assistance promotes the protection of LGBT rights, to enlist international organizations in the fight against discrimination, and to respond swiftly to abuses against LGBT persons." Now is the time to do that. Please grant political asylum to those people being persecuted for being LGBT.
