Grant Posthumous Full Pardons to the 156 Soldiers of Camp Logan (1917) Prosecuted on the charges of Mutiny and Murder

In 1917 a group of African American men, comprising the 24th Infantry, who had dedicated their lives to the USA were stationed in Houston, Texas. They were met with brutality and abuse by citizens and the police alike, their rights as federal soldiers and citizens were trampled upon. In one fateful night violence boiled over when rumor spread that the local police had killed one of their fellow soldiers. Following this night the 156 of the soldiers were prosecuted. 19 were sentenced to hang and 41 were given life. The trail was full of biases, procedural violations and weak efforts to defend the soldiers. These soldiers were not protected nor treated as they should have been, they were forsaken.
