Ever since the Spanish ceded Puerto Rico in 1898 it remains an unincorporated territory of the United States. As such it remains a colony and with limited self-rule and limited economic self-determination.
We therefore call on the United State Congress to immediately grant Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Chapter 9 U.S. Bankruptcy Code protection.
In addition, we call on the United State Congress to grant Puerto Rico economic self-determination and to allow Puerto Rico to enter into independent trade agreements as it deem beneficial to its economic health and prosperity.
