Puerto Ricans may be citizens, but they do not receive all the benefits of citizenship. If granted statehood, unemployment and poverty levels will diminish. Corporate business do not pay property taxes, so statehood would cause taxation on the business which will bring in $2 billion back to the U.S. treasury. More schools will be built, so education levels will rise. We had our doubts about making Hawaii a state in 1959; look at how the island flourished. We have nothing to lose but so much more to gain. Lets help our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters.
