The District of Columbia is home to more than 600,000 tax-paying Americans, who do not enjoy the rights of self-governance that we take for granted. While the District hosts our Federal Government, it has little direct control in national (or even their own) affairs.
Washingtonians are represented in Congress by one non-voting delegate, and no senators. The District's self-governing council is limited in authority, because Congress has ultimate control.
The residents of our capital deserve the same rights as any other American. Give the District a voice!
