Grass lawns and the English garden mentality pervading the low, middle and upper classes in the United States eliminates food sources for potentially trillions of animals, including humans. This legislation would encourage "growing lawns out," so wildflowers and edible plants could bolster food resources for both humans (replacing shade trees with fruit trees and edible plants) and other creatures like bees, who have been dying from lack of food/pollen. Grass is inedible.
The same perks should be given to those who let fallen leaves lie on their lawns, as opposed to raking, bagging, and throwing them away into landfills. Leaves act as natural fertilizer and by throwing them away we eliminate the soil's ability to become re-enriched.
Thank you for your attention, Mr. Obama and WH staff.
