GRANT STATEHOOD TO PUERTO RICO

Created by A.D. on July 12, 2015

In November 2012 the people of Puerto Rico were asked if they wanted to continue with Puerto Rico's current political status, 54.00% said "NO". On the follow-up question they were asked which non-territorial status they prefer for Puerto Rico out of Statehood, Compact of Free Association, or Independence. The overwhelming majority, 61.16%, voted to become the 51st state of the great United States of America.

After 2 years and 8 months since the referendum, it is time Puerto Ricans get what they voted for. Statehood. We Puerto Ricans have been U.S. citizens since 1917, fought in American wars since then and have contributed greatly to the U.S.A.

It is time the federal government respect the will of the Puerto Rican people and welcome the State of Puerto Rico.
