By the end of April 2015 , the UN estimated 6.5 million people had been displaced in Syria, many millions having fled to neighboring countries.
In search of a better life, most are now heading on foot towards European nations--specifically countries such as Germany, which has agreed to accept more than 800,000 Syrian migrants into the country.
To my fellow Americans, now is the opportunity for our country to send a message that resonated with the world nearly 250 year ago--when people came to North American, and built this nation, in order to escape the very thing these migrants are seeking refuge from.
This is a petition to President Obama to grant asylum to at least 65,000 or MORE migrant Syrians.
Not only is this the right thing to do, but the American thing to do.
