Filipinos are in need of Temporary Protection Status (TPS) due to the calamity caused by Typhoon Haiyan in their home country in November 2013. The economic and environmental damage is shocking and Filipinos living and working in the U.S. should not be forced to return to an area where over 600,000 people are currently displaced.
Furthermore, many families in Philippines depend on the financial support from relatives residing in the U.S. and TPS would support the continued rebuilding of the damage caused by this storm. Typhoon Haiyan has been the most powerful typhoon in our history with over 10,000 deaths and millions of dollars in damages.
