Dual-status military technicians who serve full time in uniform with their national guard or reserve units should be granted veteran status.
These members serve their units in the same full time capacity as if they were activated on title 10 orders. This is especially true for technicians who support a contingency operation at their home station while in a technician status. An example of this are the Air National Guard units flying drones overseas from their bases in the US. Even though these members directly support a live title 10 mission, they are currently missing the benefits that any other active duty or activated reservist would have earned. Such benefits include accruing veteran status, VA home loan, GI Bill, Tuition Assistance, Tricare, OCONUS space-a travel with family, etc.
