Green tax on products by distance from production to consumption

Created by D.M. on November 05, 2011

Green tax on products based on distance from production to consumption.

It is time we take into account the environmental impact of shipping goods great distances from production sights to consumption sights. Yes buying a shirt made by a 6 year old in a third world country has ethical considerations of its own but we should also consider how much green house gas is released shipping that product from China to the US. Funds from this tax could go to local producers to even the playing field. Tax breaks could be offered if producers who follow green practices and fair labor practices.
