Recently, President Obama signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act, which gives the government many new powers to fight the War on Terror. Included among these new powers is the ability to detain any U.S. citizen indefinitely without trial. This is clearly opposed to the 6th Amendment of the Bill of Rights, which guarantees every U.S. citizen the right to a speedy and public trial. We petition the Obama Administration to add a provision to the NDAA that nullifies indefinite detainment without trial, and reasserts our 6th Amendment right to a speedy and public trial.
