Any comprehensive immigration reform, whether it comes from democrats, republicans or the White House, must guarantee that legal immigrants are the first ones to benefit. These are people who are patiently waiting in line and have done things right as required by US law. Some of these legal immigrants have to wait more than a decade for an immigrant visa. The government must make sure that any proposed legislation will not allow illegal immigrants to cut in line. We urge the White House to continue leading a pathway to comprehensive immigration reform, but with the interests of all in mind.
