guarantee military pay regardless of the funding status of the federal government.

Created by R.P. on September 27, 2013

Members of the US Military are required to report for duty, regardless of the current funding status of the federal government.

Many military members live paycheck to paycheck and will have to rely on payday loans to make ends meet in the event of a government shutdown. Delaying pay by even a few days could be extremely detrimental to those who serve and their families.

We ask that military pay be guaranteed regardless of the current status of the federal budget negotiations. If a government shutdown does happen, military members should still be paid on time.

Even if a temporary solution is passed by 1 October, this is an issue that affects military members several times each year. Going forward military pay should not be used as a bargaining chip for budget negotiations.
