Minor changes in Social Security should keep the system viable without any change in tax payments or benefits to 90% of retirees.
1) We petition the White House to consider eliminating tax break for the wealthy in the form of the Social Security payment cap. In 2013 employees and employers only pay tax to Social Security up to an income of $113,700. Taxing income above this amount (currently the top 10% of earners) will raise substantial revenue for SS
2) Consider lowering the payouts to high income earners. The poor and middle class need SS payments for essentials while those whom historically had high salaries are much more financially independent. Consider lowering payments to those Americans that don't NEED Social Security.
