I propose to you the following stance on the topic of Gun Control:
- Military service with Honorable Discharge and/or law enforcement training/service is compulsory for gun ownership.
- Mandatory registration of firearms
- Develop criteria to allow for grandfathering of weapons owned by those gun owners that do not meet item #1, to include registration and proof of bi-annual re-certification
I am a combat service memeber/veteran and support the preceding. I believe that the 2nd Amendment ought to be earned through service. Through this service, it creates an environment to better screen for mental health early on, as well as education on proper fire arm usage. Utlimately, you reduce the statistical population size that would gain access to firearms and promote controls for ownership.
