Gun Free Zones do not work. Create safe schools through training and preparation of teachers.

Some would claim that laws would have saved lives, but in every shooting dozens of laws are broken. Even in Norway where it is extremely difficult to obtain firearms a single shooter was able to kill more than 90 people. Clearly, making guns illegal will only serve to create areas where criminals need not fear opposition.
It is proposed that a system for firearm training be established for teachers who choose to participate. Laws would need to be enacted allowing well trained and certified teachers to have a firearm on their persons in schools.
This training would involve safety and tactical training to ensure that teachers know how and when to use force to save children's lives. A small bonus should be paid yearly to teachers who prepare and equip themselves to save the lives of children.
