Gun reform now! We can take laws from other countries, like Japan and the Netherlands, which allow gun possession with the passing of a mental and safety exam. Ammunition for guns is sold and stored only at shooting ranges or designated hunting areas.
Those who do possess a gun should be monitored each year to ensure mental and safety status (this should also apply to our dedicated police officers). Guns should be locked and stored in a highly secure location and should have a safety standard that is met by government regulation.
We must compromise to ensure the security of all U.S. citizens (that means all - Asian, African, European, Hispanic, Indian, Middle Eastern, or whatever label you give yourself and others!)
