Immediate national legislation or taking draconian positions for or against guns laws won't work. Ours is a nation with a deep history in the use and ownership of guns. Moreover, it is a highly emotional and politicized subject. The idea of quickly proposing actual legislation will be counter production.
What we need are data and facts that we can use to develop positions rooted in reality. This will provide the basis for some meaningful debates and ultimately the forming of positions and legislation. There is quite a bit of data relating to firearms and its legislation in the US and around the world. Let's begin by establishing a working group that reviews what we have and what additional information we need to obtain so we can debate the gun issue with less emotion and more facts.
