Halt the collection of enlistment bonuses erroneously paid to National Guardsmen

During the height of the Iraq and Afghanistan War members of the National Guard were encouraged to enlist with promises of large signing bonuses. It now seems that some of these bonuses were paid in error. The men and women who received the bonuses had no idea that they were not eligible. These men and women served our country and are now being asked to repay the bonuses with interest. These men and women put their lives on the line for our country and should not now be made to suffer because of the mistakes of others. We call upon the President to immediately issue an Executive Order halting the collection of these bonuses. Furthermore he should call on Congress to pass legislation resolving this problem.
