Congress members are to receive a fairly small pay raise starting in the 113th session. However many politicians own small businesses, some even a stake in bigger business, and are over paid for the political duties in the first place. Giving them a pay raise of a few thousand dollars per year, while they have been unproductive at protecting the working class from drastic public spending cuts, and huge tax increases, is an absolute slap in the face to American citizens, many of which are struggling financially. Since our tax dollars pay congress, those same struggling citizens will pay for this cruel joke of wasteful spending.
Congress should be taking a pay cut if anything considering how ineffective they have been at their jobs, not a pay raise.
