Gerrymandering is the process of carving up voter districts in order to separate minority voices into small, manageable and impotent groups. Bizarre shaped districts are used to make sure that each is comfortably controlled, and that the opposition is spread too thin to pose a threat.
This is essentially robbing minorities (whatever party they might fall under) of a meaningful vote. Such practices are harmful to a healthy democracy as they allow the representation to be at odds with the actual voter population.
Therefore, we should not allow those who would benefit from this practice to decide our voter districts. We petition the White House to hand district drawing over to nonpartisan committees.
