The internet should not be treated as a public utility opened up to new taxation on providers through the FCC's "Universal Service Fund." These taxes would undoubtedly be passed down to consumers. The United States has long been at the forefront of innovation when it comes to the internet, but this idea threatens to strangle the internet. The proposed reclassification would apply 1930's-era telecommunications regulations to the internet. The United States should continue to classify the internet as an information service with multiple stake-holders. The country doesn't need another innovation-stifling regulation. Sign this petition to tell the White House and the FCC "Hands Off The Internet."
