The palm oil crisis is an unknown problem. This petition serves to try and resolve that issue. Palm oil is one of the world's leading providers of vegetable oil, and can only be mined from oil palm trees in particular climates, mostly found in Malaysia and Indonesia. The mining of these trees for oil is currently the leading cause of deforestation in these countries.
Many companies and manufacturers do not list palm oil as an ingredient in their products, even though it is one of the most widely used oil in food products, cosmetics, detergents, candles, and as an energy source. Over 70% of all palm oil produced is used in food products. However, on most packaging, it is disguised, replacing palm oil with vague, misleading labels such as "vegetable oil" or "stearate, stearyl".
