Have all members of congress take home the average American income to more accurately understand and reflect America.

Created by W.W. on October 16, 2011

We the people believe that currently our members of congress don't represent us. With the average member of congress bringing home $912,000, while the average American brings home $32,611, which makes it impossible for them to understand and accurately reflect the majority of Americans.

Deferring all money over the current average individual income during the duration of their term as a representative would allow them to more fairly represent the majority. In regards to members with families, the family would take in the average household income, with all other income deferred.

We the people believe that if an idea like this was taken up, it could help change our current political system into one that is more honest, fair and accurate system
