To have Columbus day removed from the US calendar as a Nationally celebrated holiday.

Created by M.L. on November 14, 2012

Christopher Columbus has been recognized as the person responsible for the discovery of the New Land now called the United States of America. In actuality, the land was already occupied and therefore could not have been discovered by Christopher Columbus. Christopher Columbus was considered a criminal in Spain, he enslaved the people of the land, and after pushing them to the point of committing suicide before working any further for him, he began a genocide of the people indigenous to this land. To give this man any kind of recognition is as much a slap in the face to Native Americans as it would be to descendants of the survivors of the holocaust celebrating Hitler day in Germany, or African Americans celebrating Slavery Day.
