The California National Guard was overpaying bonuses due to a lack of oversight during the Iraq and Afghanistan when the Pentagon feared a shortfall of troops. This has created a undue hardship to the Veterans who accepted the bonuses within the directives at that time. This has created frustration and financial difficulties with the payment demands, which include wage garnishments, interest payments and tax liens for soldiers declining to pay. This is not how America should repay it’s Veterans
