H.Res.457 requires that the House of Representatives to be in session for at least 40 hours, other than weeks that are dedicated to working in each Congressman's district. The average American works 241 days a year on a 40 hour a week schedule with an average income of $52,000, while Congress was scheduled to meet only a 131 days last year and they earn a salary of $170,000 a year.
