We regulate everything else, why not regulate one of the most dangerous weapons we are allowed to carried. Similar to controlled substance databases, people who purchase or have purchased guns should be entered in a federal and state database.
Having a database will allow the tracking for private gun sales and prevent illicit gun sales.
